Nirvana Still Have Jam Sessions
Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear are still rocking out
Published Feb 12, 2021While the world's attention may be on Foo Fighters and their newly released album Medicine at Midnight, Dave Grohl and co. haven't forgotten about their old band Nirvana. In fact, the surviving members still regularly get back together for Nirvana jam sessions.
Grohl and fellow Nirvana alumnus Pat Smear made the reveal while on The Howard Stern Show this week, saying they still get back together with Krist Novoselic to jam.
"Every once in a while, me and Krist and Dave get together and we do play as if we're Nirvana, so I don't have to miss it — we do it," Smear said. "Last time, we did it at the house where we recorded the [new Foo Fighters] album."
Stern went on to ask them if they still listen to any Nirvana albums, but by the sounds of things, there's still a lot of pain when it comes to dealing with the loss of Kurt Cobain.
"It just makes me sad," Smear said.
Grohl said his children have come to know Nirvana, though, despite him not really showing them his old work. In fact, he said his 11-year-old daughter recently started to get curious about Nirvana and ask about the band.
"She actually did for the first time ever last night," he said. "She wanted to know if Kurt was shy, I think. I said, 'Yeah, he kind of was.'"
