Published Jan 20, 2010Few things on planet Earth are as perfect as when Slash lays down a mean lick or solo, which is saying a lot, because guitar solos are generally pretty lame. There will be no shortage of said riffage on his upcoming self-titled solo disc, which now has a release date attached to it: April 6.
The album has turned into an all-star affair, featuring appearances from more than a few dudes (and dudettes) you may have heard of, like Chris Cornell, Flea, Dave Grohl, Iggy Pop, Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper, Meat Loaf, Fergie, Maroon 5's Adam Levine and Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, according to Rolling Stone.
That line-up is impressive, and so is this little scheme: in the UK, the first edition of the disc will be bundled with a 132-page special edition of Classic Rock magazine, which will be all about Slash. This will allow the disc to be sold in over 4,000 UK retailers that sell the mag. Take that, plummeting CD sales!
The album is the Velvet Revolver/ex-Guns N' Roses/ex-Slash's Snakepit axeman's first solo affair, and is set to see release through Roadrunner Records.
Slash will also be appearing at this year's Canadian Music Week. The guitarist will be this year's celebrity interview and will also perform. The event will go down March 11 at 4 p.m. in Toronto's Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
