Published Mar 25, 2008Last week it was revealed that the Raconteurs were gonna surprise everyone with a new album today, March 25. According to the band's UK label, XL, Jack, Brendan and the other two from the Greenhornes didn't want anyone to know about the album's release and just have it pop up in stores. According to label rep Ben Beardsworth, it was the notice needed for retail that ruined the idea. "That was the reason for announcing it a week ahead of the release date," Beardsworth said. "We had to tell more and more shops that's why it was announced a week ahead."
Well, thanks to the announcement, fans got to hear the album a few days early, when iTunes accidentally put the album up for sale ahead of today's release. Of course it was grabbed by anxious fans, and of course it leaked all over the 'net.
