Published Sep 12, 2017Last fall, we were treated to a trailer of the long-awaited L7 documentary L7: Pretend We're Dead. Now, the "fierce, feminist pioneers of American grunge punk" have shared more details on the film, as well as news of their first new music in years.
Coinciding with the documentary's release, the band will deliver two new singles this fall through Don Giovanni Records, marking their first new music since 1999. Both tracks were recorded at Hollywood's EastWest Studios with Billy Bush (Garbage, Against Me!), with the first arriving September 29.
L7: Pretend We're Dead will come out on Blu-ray/VOD worldwide on October 13. Today (September 12) marks the beginning of a screening tour throughout the United States, and you can find dates below.
The band have also lined up a trio of live performances on the West Coast towards the end of September, at which those aforementioned singles could get a road test.
As previously reported, L7: Pretend We're Dead will trace the act's beginnings in the mid-'80s, to their rise during the '90s alternative rock boom, to their breakup in 2001 with over 100 hours of vintage footage and new interviews.
The film will features interviews with Exene Cervenka (X), Shirley Manson (Garbage), Krist Novoselic (Nirvana), Joan Jett, Brody Dalle (The Distillers), Lydia Lunch, Allison Robertson (the Donnas), Louise Post (Veruca Salt) and more.
