Having ruled that a Talking Heads reunion would be "a number of steps backwards" earlier this year, David Byrne is instead moving forward with a new solo album and collaboration with Oneohtrix Point Never.

As Stereogum points out, the former Talking Heads frontman revealed the news in a Reddit AMA today (May 11), saying the solo LP is expected out "early next year." The news of working with Oneohtrix Point Never (a.k.a. Daniel Lopatin) came from a question about his how Byrne's writing process works

"Last week, I wrote words and a melody over a track that Daniel Lopatin sent me, so I change depending on the situation," Bryne wrote. "Lyrics are best when the writing is not obvious — when they appear to be naturally occurring (even though that might mean they are the result of lots of work and editing)."

Byrne's last standalone solo LP was 2004's Grown Backwards. He has since released collaborative records alongside the likes of Brian Eno, St. Vincent and Fatboy Slim.
