As TMZ reports, Belly's lawsuit claims he was attacked by 25 security guards during the Weeknd's headlining festival set on April 20, 2018, despite having necessary credentials to access all areas on the festival grounds. Belly had also performed at Coachella earlier that same evening.
According to legal documents, Belly's suit says he was headed to a backstage VIP area when security rushed him and repeatedly grabbed, punched, kicked and choked him. Video footage that surfaced in the wake of the incident saw a number of security guard engage the rapper physically.
Belly's suit claims the attack left him concussed and nearly unconscious, resulting in permanent physical and metal trauma. The rapper is seeking an unspecified amount in damages.
Following the incident, Belly tweeted that "20 of you pussies couldn't take me off my feet," adding it was the "best night of my life" in another post.
"No negative bullshit can steal my joy," he wrote in another tweet. "I performed the best show of my life, on 4/20 at Coachella!! I really came from nothing, and I'm still here... it's gotta mean something."
Belly released his Immigrant album last year.
